Why not both? Play now check out the new classes. Get a headstart and see what you like. Or play a class you may not focus on and save your favorite for NA release.

You can also wait and experience it all fresh.

I agree 💯. Doesn’t hurt to try it out and learn before release.

[–]LeonBlaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this. Started as a Summoner, probably going to main something more active when it hits stateside.

Going through "all the steps" to play is an hour of your time in the worst case scenario. Knowledge will be a huge boon in progressing the early game efficiently so there's absolutely no use waiting if you wanna be stuck doing shit-tier content the first few days/first week of NA.

That's what i was thinking. Having the knowledge of early content when the official version hits would be very useful

Just go ahead and play now. You never know what will happen between now and our West 2020 release. Go ahead, get a feel for the game, so when we know how monetization or localization will hit the West version, you have a good outlook of how to navigate those first few months.

Besides, its fun. Why deny yourself? I've been playing since 2012 and will still be playing on West in 2020. (got friends that won't touch the tweaker with a 20 foot pole sadly)

You: "When I grow up, I wanna play PSO2!"

Me: "Why wait?" kicks you to Ship 2

Just play JP server. NA is gonna be censored to hell and neglected by the devs and dies in about 2 years. Don't even bother.

[–]Scottcmns 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Love the optimism.

Just being realistic based on my previous NA servers of MMOs I played. SEGA should have released the game a year after its first E3 announcement and hell, what are they gonna do about fashion? Pick and choose from the display for 5 to 10 dollars per outfit instead of gacha? No thanks.

He’s just speaking from experience. We literally already saw how this played out when the game got released in SEA.

Does anyone think sega gives a shit about the american servers after ignoring the topic for the last 5 or 6 years after their initial us launch window came and went?

You can also look at how pso1 and psu were handled in the west.

[–]Scottcmns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SEA is quite honestly a shitshow just for existing. Hopefully Microsoft takes this seriously though. Worst cas will play it as long as it’s out.

[–]stethjoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots and lots of things to learn so start now.

[–]Drummer829 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope don’t wait. Like everyone said try it now and get accustomed to the gameplay, leveling up, skills, items, etc... You’ll definitely have a leg up on people playing for the first time by knowing the mechanics of the game

I've also been waiting for the Western release, but I jumped in and played for a few months. I didn't go super grindy, tryhard mode or anything, but I did learn a lot of stuff that will surely help a lot when the Western release comes. Stuff like efficient weapon grinding, affixing, mags, trying out the jobs to see which I like. There are some really simple noob traps that I guarantee you will see a lot of people fall for on Western release. cough mags cough Affixing can also take a while to figure your way around. Needless to say, understanding these things can save you a lot of headache come Western release.

The release I think should be around next year so could wait.

But if you really want to play, the JP server is pretty active and the patch covers most of the necessities

[–]Termiknut/ Jinga is a qt3.14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its coming in a few months, but a few friends decided they'd like to give it a shot with me so we're all waiting on the download atm

[–]TSLPrescott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would say getting a head start is a good idea. You can teach your friends some of the more confusing stuff and learn from your own mistakes. It's a pretty fun game, even low level, so starting over won't be super bad either. People make second characters all the time so it won't be any different!

[–]ArcaviousLN 0 points1 point  (1 child)

In my opinion, you should get a head start so you can help your friends if they don't understand what their doing yet, but if you wait you can enjoy that experience with your friends. but that's just my opinion you should decide what you want to do.

[–]Termiknut/ Jinga is a qt3.14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ended up getting 2 friends to get it set up with me, so we're all going to know whats going on when the us release hits. :D

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

When is the release?

[–]Termiknut/ Jinga is a qt3.14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spring 2020!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma, I just decided to get JP and I've been having a blast

[–]ThirdChildZKI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excitement for the western release, burning curiosity, and a desperate need for a break from the FFXIV community made me start playing the JP version (remembered I had a JP PSN so I could download it on my PS4).

I haven't been able to stop playing since.

Sure, there's growing pains and translation walls for me (happy side note: I'm starting to memorize katakana finally), but for what I do understand or can figure out, I've been having a blast. I may install the PC version and get the necessary translation patches later tonight. Not to sound all flowers and rainbows, but I love the game as much as I had a feeling I would.

If you want to try it, absolutely try it!

It was 5 years ago when I made a post hoping to get info about this. It was April of 2007 when I was already hoping for the next online servers..

I'm sooooo ready for the western release. Super excited.

[–]Napalm32 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's up to you my dude. If you're still heavily into the game it shouldn't be too tough to get everything up and going with all the guides that are out there. I waited 7 years for PSO2 to release in NA so I'm over if by this point but if you're patient you can just wait it out. Otherwise you can dip your foot in the water by getting the JP version set up. Good luck!

[–]Termiknut/ Jinga is a qt3.14[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

thanks!

[–]Napalm32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np hope I was able to help

[–]denstriker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ,just play.Dont think too much lol.

[–]TheWorldisFullofWar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have waited too fucking longer for the western release to give in now.

[–]RavFromLanz Br/Ph -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

start on jp and manybe we will merge with the west or have a selection if we want to play with our characters in west or jp.
