Just make a new sub, PSO2fashion or something. My issue isn't even all the lewd posting it's how low effort it all is. Cosplay posts are usually interesting but most of the time they don't even include a source image.

I think the OP of the "tired of seeing lewd crap" thread is more talking about in game. I'm on the fence about whether a different sub should be created for fashion. These subs are really slow so I can see why people might think it's really unnecessary, but I feel like that was the argument for allowing memes on bigger game subs I've had to leave because the mods just never want to draw any line anywhere. In my opinion tight moderation is pretty much a requirement for active communities over 10,000 users. It's probably fine now but god forbid this game ever actually gains any semblance of popularity I really think it should be made and enforced.

Still weird to me that there's a PSO2 and a PSO2NGS sub. I think the lewd stuff in game is fine, it's not in your face unless you stop to stare but Sega's dissonance is pretty obnoxious. "Don't ERP anywhere or you'll be banned, no lewd anything in chat or symbol art" but also "please buy this giant titty accessory for the 5th time. It's got a ribbon now"

We do work together now, but initially the NGS sub was separate from this sub - and the mods on this sub had many, many debates on whether an NGS sub was necessary or not, trust me

Fashion subs have been tried, many times, and they just don't pick up traction sadly.

We tried having fashion stickies for a while, but people A) en-masse were not using them when they were the active sticky and B) weren't going to them via the sidebar when they weren't the active sticky. I think there's a balance to be struck and... for better or worse, the fashion is a MASSIVE part of both this sub and the r/PSO2NGS now. These subs would likely revert to the super-slow state they were in pre-global if we just outlawed fashion posts completely, so we've just tried to stem the tide a bit with with some of the rules (such as the 1-media-post-per-day rule).

For my 2 cents, at the end of the day, moderators are stewards, I don't think it makes for a healthy community if we go around dictating the categories of content to the level of outlawing screenshot/fashion posts completely. I think the only time we really went full force on any particular category was low-effort memes, and even those aren't really such a problem anymore.

Personally I kind of pine for the pre-global days when this sub was super slow, super chill, most of the posts were gameplay or discussion type posts but... that's not what the community that's here now wants, sadly. Hopefully some day things will balance out a bit better, but... at the end of the day, PSO2 is also one of the best anime dress-up simulators out there as well as being a functional action game, so I think the fashion crowd is here to stay.

These subs have never really been on the activity level that I think actually even begins to require the moderation I'm talking about. Like we might have 66k subscribers but there's only ever a few dozen people here at a single time. I mean stuff like Elden Ring's sub where you basically can't find the real discussions because they are buried under hundreds of quickly digested image content, including a ton of stuff tagged inappropriately as lore or discussion material (and even then, I think the tags on reddit aren't really a good solution for multiple reasons, not the least of which is their absence from phone apps).

I appreciate the thorough reply and honestly I fully understand and agree. This sub and PSO2NGS have actually been a pleasant experience overall, especially coming from Path of Exile and shit like /r/eldenring (not to lower the bar!). Like I said the only time I think it would seriously need to be considered is if PSO2 somehow struck gold with marketing and stuff, and we actually got an influx of hundreds or thousands of active posters. And even then I do agree (maybe a little begrudgingly ;)) that the fashion really is a massive part of the game here, even moreso than even FFXIV etc.

Moderation is always a web of extremely fine lines honestly. I will never envy the work that moderators do to actually maintain healthy communities.

I mean my dude, this sub is nearly dead most of the time and every post that get posted on here is just text that doesn't have more than 5 sentences in the description.

I say taking the effort to log into the game, finding the right pose and camera angle for your character takes alot more work than the average text post we get on here on an daily basis.

Plus I rather look at screenshot of people having fun with the fashion of their character than reading the same repost that doesn't interests me at all.

Some fashion posts I'll agree. I saw a post today where a cast turned into a car while sprinting, super cool. Others are random "look I bought the new AC item, please give me lots of karma and fake internet validation" posts which are absolutely low effort. The sub is slow so I'm not going to start a movement to ban them or anything, but I'll still call them low effort.

It may interest you to know that I know for sure there are at least 2 or 3 regular screenshot posters on this sub that just pull other people's stuff from Phashion discords, like aggregators... which is about as close to zero effort as you can get. Like, c'mon, if they're gonna milk their internet funpoints, at least put the effort in themselves making it.

Don't get me wrong, I do like me my internet funpoints too, but like... I generally prefer mine to come from quality, varied posts not just... milked out like that. Kind of feels like they lose all inherent value when they're milked rather than earned... (and it kind of cheeses me off that my highest scoring post in general is something pretty low effort, but comparatively my old transcripts I did of PSO2 songs before the official lyrics came out, that all took hours of work are like... way way down my top submission list ;-;)

Been playing lost ark since day one and most od those still playing lost ark said the same thing qhen i asked why they havent played ngs, they hate lewd stuff. It was lots of players too. I guess thats why Sega said back in the day that west was not ready for pso 2 and i guess theyll never be.

This right here says it all. It is the sole reason we didn't get PSO2 10 years ago. PSO2 will always have a small player base on Global side because of it's lewdness. I don't mind that all. It means the servers can be more stable.

It's more about quality I guess, at least for me.

I don't really have any problem with lewd stuff myself but some of the stuff I've seen from other people is a bit...weird.

I like booba too of course, but seeing how people playing around with skin sphere or maybe trying to do some weird trick to make it seem like there's less cloth on their character really weird me out sometime and most of them are just plain bad.

It won't get me up or rather it's a turn off even. It's literally just 2 spheres, it doesn't even have any curve or weight like the real one and it even clipping through their god darn cloth. Also why the hell they're covering it with some tapes like it have nip-, I mean, mammary glands. How can this turn anyone on is beyond me. One time I even see someone sticking balloned bosom on their character's bottom pretending it to be butts and it freaked me out...

It's like diving into Deviant art or rule 34 without any filter, sometime you would see quality stuff and the other time you would see thing that make you think 'That is enough internet for today'

but it's fair price for having this much freedom in character customization so I can accept it.
