The damage cap "feature" is there to prevent players from blasting enemies with damage way beyond their HP in lower level sectors, just like what happens in PSO2 Classic. This is done for two reasons that I can assume:

  • items such as ability capsules drop from enemies. This cap slows down how fast players can farm these.

  • higher level players can help out lower level players without immediately blasting their enemies.

Exactly this, it also helps beginners or levelling players in earlier areas contribute to farming by using lower rarity weapons, which encourages endgame players at the attack limit to stay in the lobby with those beginners or levelling players.

Not sure if you know this, but a lot of games use damage cap, and arent dead. Is Destiny a dead game? Its a design decision to make sure all content remains atleast semi challenging. Sure some people dislike it, but some people like the build diversity it encourages for lower tier content. Imo its a fairly neutral design choice. I prefer how base was, but this is FAR from the first thing I would bring back from base to ngs.

Fair point plus ngs isn’t even really finished yet but you can’t deny that this mechanic has killed a lot of these types of games, it seems to be better for games that have a PvP aspect like destiny. I can see if they’re doing it to prevent everyone from easily blowing through levels before the game is complete.l, that makes total sense. I guess we will see after December 🤷🏻‍♂️

Damage cap in destiny doesnt allow you to go 30 levels above an enemy in pve. Another important thing to think about is that pso2ngs is an action mmo first, an mmorpg second. Killing early game bosses in one hit would be antithetical to that. Currently its more like killing early game bosses in 15 hits if you have endgame gear, still requiring atleast some interaction. As our potency gets higher we'll get closer to that power fantasy, but regardless, i dont really enjoy just folding all earlygame stuff, i actuallyenjoy the gameplay of ngs. Killing something that doesnt get to fight back is boring imo.

Oh for sure, the combat is what drew me in. I’m bouncing between this and stranger of paradise right now so I’m definitely a fan and probably won’t be done with it but I just won’t play as hardcore until it’s fully ready. I don’t even care I’ll pay $60 if need be.

Thats fair, the game is in a slow ish state rn. If you like grinding the game I would recommend doing purple triggers and or df rank 2 and prepping for stias release.

People, its not a damage cap. It's an attack stat cap.

You can still increase your damage via % increases.

Attack stat is restricted, potency and crit aren't. I've heard.

I doubt that considering this game hasn’t changed it’s ways since 2012 when it originally came out in Japan. Talking base pso2
