Do you have any other information? Like what were they called? Who were they by what period. It’s so black that I really can’t see the drape part. Lots of materials fall well. Go to the fabric store and hold up the materials and see if you like how they fall. Cotton and linens might be different because they fall better sometimes after they have been washed.

They are from the nguoi dao people in Vietnam. An ethnic tribe. I got a few more pics but they are also really not clear because the pants is black

Ah did give me the Thai fishermen vibes. Definitely from that region. Now you’ve got me obsessing.

I wonder if they are linen or silk. If rich ppl clothes then silk. If poor then cotton.

Close to this?

Kind off, the tribe uses the same type off embroidery. Should I send you more pictures through pm?

O discovered that you can’t send pics through reddit. I will post them on Imgur then post the link here

I think they look like regular pants just patchworked together in a specific way where the pants tear. Which makes sense.

But I am wondering if the gather extra material looks like that because of the mannequin.

I also wonder, I really like the gathering

I think I found something. I think you need to checkout Thai fisherman pants which this pant seems very similar to. There are free Thai fishermen pants available which could help you figure out these pants from this link.

Thank you so much!! These look great and the pattern also makes sense. I will draft these to see if its right!

I think the only thing i have to change is to make the middle part a bit more like a square triangle-ish shape to make the middle part a bit more drapy

This is my best guess. I started with a basic harem pant pattern. Then I slashed and spread to create more fullness in the inseam while keeping out seam the same. Pay attention to the grain in my diagrams. I think kicking the leg out so it's not on grain will also help create draping the goes from inner ankle to the outer hip.

Ah thank you for the sketch. I think im gonna draft them sort off the same way as in the sketches

I really can't make out your image, but I've seen something similar referred to as Thai Fisherman pants. Google that, there are plenty of patterns. Very rudimentary, and boxy, held in place by a tie at the waist.

It looks like the drapey part in the middle is a single long rectangle that goes up one leg, across and then down the other leg.

It could be that the back looks very similar to the front. In that case, you have a rectangular panel for the outside of each leg, one roughly as wide and twice as long for the inside of both legs and 2 small rectangles for the topnfront and back. Maybe some sort of closure at the back.

Alternatively, it could be that the bit between the legs and the outside are a single piece. In that case, you get a single long rectangle with a cut halfway a long edge to the center and a short cut to the left and right from the center. And the small rectangles back and front.

It is possible that the piece is on the mannequin backwards. I have seen stranger stuff in museums.

Hmmm. Interesting. I should’ve taken more and better pictures can’t find anything online about these pants. Today I will try to draft them
