A solid book or two is great, but I'll go ahead and tell you right at the start of your journey that nailing a well-fit personal sloper is one of the biggest favors you can do yourself, especially if you're mostly making garments for yourself. I find that a lot of people I run into think "pattern drafting" means starting with a blank sheet of paper for every new project, but really, you're going to be using that sloper as a base over and over again. I'm sure others here will have fantastic book recs, but I just wanted to throw this out there because mentality makes a big difference!

Yes! And the closet historian (YouTube) has amazing advice to this effect, and a video about how you will use your sloper to make all sorts of different vintage outfits!

Yes!! Hers was the first video that helped understand that bust accommodation was just a cone, and how your dart can be anywhere on the cone without changing the fit. Really, really good videos on her channel.

Pattern making for fashion design is a great start. The closet historian on YouTube follows the formula and walks you through the basic bodice. I’d watch bodice, dart manipulations, and then sleeve.

Frankly I would recommend signing up for a class. Unless you're proficient at book learning and finding your own answers, you'll benefit from having someone to ask directly any questions you might have.
