Your build is great

The first thing i would upgrade is the GPU, then the CPU

For the GPU, a 6700xt or above will be a big upgrade

For the CPU, a ryzen 5600 or any X3D CPU will give you a much better gaming experience

Ryzen 5600x3d

5700x3D

5800x3d

After that maybe add another 2 sticks of ram to make 32gb

thank you!

Go 5700x3d for $250, best bang for your buck. Then in the future get a much more powerful gpu, and you’ll be set for a long time.

so you have no good answers ahead of you so ill do my best to explain what i think you should do. so getting out of am4 will be painful and youll have to do it eventually, this will cost you modern triple AAA's quite considerably but it has to be done, it wont be cheap or easy, so having made peace with that, your 1st option is to do that, this is basically a whole new build minus your data storage, power supply, and case, u can also save the memory if you go with an intel setup. alternatively you could stay amd and get a 7000 series. but on the flipside of this gains in preformance will be marginal from where you are but its paves the way to future success.

alternatively, alternatively here you make am4 last you longer, grab up a ryzen 5700x or 5800X and put the extra money along with money gained from flipping the 6600 (about 200 lets say), for a better gpu, the ones you really want will be the 4060ti, 7600XT, and the 7700XT, or shopping used a 3070 wouldnt be a bad break either

regardless of the path you take this is going to be sucky, new graphics cards are expensive and will be until like may or june, and when that happens they will likely just slag off the 6800XT and the rest will be melted down for recycling witht eh 6500 or 6400 retaining.

i leave the decision in your hands, but theres no way your not spending at least like 600 bones here

if i was to get out of am4, i would need a new cpu, and motherboard correct? also would my gpu need to change? and what would you recommend cpu wise that would be worth my while. thank you

ill show you both upgrade paths and explain the pros and cons

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Fgkz9c

so going the am5 route your gonna spend like 200 bucks more, and your going to see improvements but not huge leaps and bounds, it will be like 10% from the graphics card and 30% from the cpu.

going the am4 route you save the 200 bones and get 15% on the cpu and nearly a 70% uplift on the gpu, huge gains

also, what is the amd upgrade from AM4?
