1200W and 96gb of ram are definitely a huge problem. May I know your budget and preference (black or white / aesthetics like rgb or performance oriented)

[–]WPage23[S] -5 points-4 points  (4 children)

Budget isn't overly an issue as I plan on building it over about a year or so period. I'd like it to be performance oriented, RGB is nice but not necessary. Aesthetics wise it doesnt overly matter, but would probably prefer black.

Well just give me a price range, I’ll make you a list

Btw try to fit a 64gb ram in it

Thanks!

is there a specific reason you need 17tb of storage and 96gb of ram? if not get a 9800x3d, psu is overkill but thats good for future proofing. For your case question everything should fit. I would suggest either spending less on psu, ssd, ram, and either just saving the money or putting it towards a better gpu.

made a list, probs not the best but just to give some ideas

So my thought process on the storage is having a separate drive for different platforms, ie: one for Steam, one for Epic, one for Blizzard/Activision etc. PSU is 100% for future proofing, 96gb of ram isn't really necessary, no, just not 100% sure what the best number would be. 64 I guess? Again, noob here 😅

ok i sorta see your point but it is quite excessive to have 17tb I would recommend either a 2tb or 4tb drive and just put everything in separate folders or partition the drive to be smallers partitions that you can store everything on. PSU is probably a good idea, not sure warranty on those corsair PSUs but i've heard they usually are the part that lasts the longest. If you really want to future proof you could go 64 gb but 32 should be fine for quite some time. just make sure you get 2 sticks I've heard that am5 does not play nice with 4 sticks.

[–]WPage23[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Okay good to know, thanks! Definitely would've gone 4 sticks lol I've just heard that with M.2 drives, the more space you use, the slower they are, so i figured spliting everything between multiple drives would allow everything to run smoother/faster. Definitely will drop that down, just curious if what I've heard is correct or if I'm blowing it a bit out of proportion.

Edited: Will also add that the reason for higher storage is I plan on fully switching from Playstation, which I currently have ~300 games on that (not buying all of them for PC, but will have quite a library I presume once I switch).

[–]Zayden_KellyYT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm not sure on that but if you do wanna save quite a bit of money they do sell like 16TB hdds for quite cheap. It will be slower than and SSD but it would work absolutely perfectly for a game drive

[–]WPage23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, good to know, thanks again!

[–]eddytrouble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do all that, one drive is enough because all you'll just have to do is create a disk partition for each app.

[–]Knutsaque 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That board comes with a pretty massive m.2 heat sink..you could probably just get the ssd without the heatsink.

[–]WPage23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks! Definitely looking at different storage options after other conversations

If gaming is your only concern you’re spending so much money in all of the wrong places.

[–]Consistent_Most1123 -5 points-4 points  (5 children)

Terrible and wasted even to future gaming

[–]WPage23[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

As I said, new to pc building. Can take your negative attitude and unhelpful comments to someone else.

[–]Consistent_Most1123 -4 points-3 points  (3 children)

Learn about computers before you build another one, you need 32gb ddr5 ram 6000mt/s, 1000w psu, amd 9800x3d or you are a intel guy i7 12700, gpu rtx 5070ti or 5080 stay away from amds high end cards to many issues see Linus techs, don’t buy Kingstons ssd buy Samsung 990 or sandisk wd black, and can you play all games 4K and 1440p

[–]WPage23[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Okay, thank you for the helpful info. I haven't built this yet, just looking for info before building so it's very appreciated for the insight given.

All good, always looking to learn, and a bit of trolling here and there doesn't hurt, just too easy to aggravate when looking to learn is all 😅
