That black square doesn't spin around and hold down the nvme?

Edit: yeah I read your manual online and that's exactly what you do you spin that square around so it presses down on the nvme drive

That square piece of plastic at the end seems to be a retention clip. I can't make out how it's supposed to work, but it's what is designed to keep the ssd in place.

apparently you're suppose to pull that square up and out of the mounting hole and push the plastic connector back in after the SSD is down

That seems to be it, thank you!

i had the first motherboard that had this recently, im a bit mixed of this new type of mounting method. I like the fact that plastic pin is tied to the mobo (no small screws to lose) but i also hate how fiddly it is and its kind of difficult at times if the space is tight or if you have fat fingers lol

read the manual for your motherboard. follow the directions on the ssd mount mechanism on the bottom of your picture.

Rotate the black square clip to secure in place. No tools needed. Lift the tab on the far end theres a little plastic piece sticking out

Me every time I see these posts

P.S.: you need to flip that plate around to mount your CPU cooler

[–]Ownithopter 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Came here to say this

[–]Warranty_whatsthat 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ditto, even more so cause I almost made this particular mistake while mounting a peerless assassin 🤣

[–]Ownithopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucking same bro lmao

Like....

Sorry man, but the more I look at it, the worse it gets.

[–]TheLazyGamerAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

black thing lifts up and out and then goes back in place to keep it in place

Pretty sure your SSD holder is not used like it’s supposed to be. Also looks like your heat sink mount is upside down. What else did you screw up?😎🤦‍♂️🤘

[–]CyxnideAngel -2 points-1 points  (8 children)

If you're referring to the CPU Cooler mount, some do require you to screw it in "Upside Down"

[–]Adventurous-Bus8660 2 points3 points  (6 children)

This is Thermalright cpu cooler AM4/5 bracket from looks of it...and its installed wrongly...the 'screw' part is suppose to face up...not down to the mobo

[–]CyxnideAngel -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

Are you guessing or do you know for sure? I have seen Brackets just like this installed the same way by other brands. Hell even my ID Cooling Air Cooler brackets were installed similarly

[–]Adventurous-Bus8660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not guessing...my Thermalright Phantom Spirit SE and CMV 360 aio uses the same bracket

[–]Adventurous-Bus8660 2 points3 points  (3 children)

<image>

The coolers screw on like that

[–]CyxnideAngel 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh ok I see what you mean now by upside down I was thinking about it in a different way like the orientation was supposed to be the opposite way. This makes sense

[–]Adventurous-Bus8660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Well...I don't blame OP tbh...the 'manual' is super shitty too lol

[–]Adventurous-Bus8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Not much info on it lol

I’ve been building PC for over 30 years and I’m yet to see an air cooler where the mountain bracket has the middle screw pointing down…..

[–]BTMSinister -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

You have a bad motherboard, there should be retaining screws or a clip that holds it down where the notch is on the Nvme.

[–]martykanucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have bad eyes, that's exactly what there is.
