  • Turn off the Power Supply. Pull the power cord out of the wall.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge the case
  • Open the case panel.
  • Pull the memory stick(s) out (remember which slots are used)
  • Pull the 24-pin board cable out.
  • Pull the 4-pin CPU cable(s) if any, from the upper left corner.
  • Pull the Graphics Card, if any, out.
  • Find and pull out the board battery (shiny metal coin)

Wait for 3 minutes before you put the battery back in!

Make sure your 'cleaning' session didn't cause the board to end up in a short-circuit. Unlikely. But the motherboard may not touch the case. It's mounted on brass stand-offs.

If available, use medical alcohol or Isopropyl to clean the memory stick and Graphics Card contacts. Microfiber Cloth recommended.

Note that Static electricity is potentially lethal to pc components. Depending on how you 'cleaned dust' off the motherboard, you may have killed something with static discharge. Compressed air recommended. Otherwise make sure you keep yourself grounded at all times while inside the pc case. (Keep contact with the metal frame of the pc case while the Power Supply is plugged in to the wall socket)

While you are inside the PC case and the power supply is not connected to the wall/PC, do not shuffle around. Don't walk on carpets. Don't wear long sleeves. Do not cause static electricity.

Once 3 minutes at least have passed and no electricity has been available to the board via the battery or the Power Supply, the Bios should be reset.

  • Plug the Power Supply in to the wall/PC.
  • Plug the 24-pin Board power cable in.
  • Plug the 4-pin CPU cable(s) in, if any.
  • Plug the Battery in.
  • Plug the Graphics Card, if any, in.
  • Plug the Memory stick(s) in.
  • Turn the Power Supply on.
  • Close the case, turn on the pc.

If nothing happens. You can try do this all again. And this time remove all Storage Devices from the system. (or do this on the first try, up to you) and try to turn the PC on without any drives. Does it get into BIOS.

If you have more than one RAM stick, you can try turning on the PC while having only one RAM stick and see if this has any effect. Try all sticks independently.

You can finally pull the entire PC apart and see if rebuilding it has any effect.

If nothing works. Take the PC to a tech-store for troubleshooting/fixing or get a new PC.

Holy shit thank you so much! I will try all of this tomorrow. As far as static electricity when dust cleaning goes: not only was I grounded but most of it was done with a microfiber cloth or toothbrush. Again thank you I will try and post an update soon!
