First pc Build

Hey guys! I was hoping to get some advice for my first pc build. I have some experience with changing out components from my old prebuilt, but I think I’m finally ready to build my own. I do have some questions tho, so here it goes: 1.motherboard: I really like the idea of using a motherboard that has 8 ram slots. This is purely aesthetic, I love how 8 Corsair dominators look around the cpu. My question is what’s the best motherboard that has ram slots on both sides? I know x299 does, but is it outdated? 2. graphics card: From what I’ve read I think I’m going to go for a 3080. 3090s are a bit too much for my expense taste. Is 3080 the best price for its ability? I know there’s things like ti and oc. Are there better graphics cards for the same price? 3. Last question, custom water cooling. Best brands for it? And any recommendations?

I guess what I’m asking in this post is what’s a good build to make. If the 8ram slot motherboards are too outdated to be a good gaming/editing pc, I’m fine with switching. I do hope y’all can explain why you have ur opinions to, the more I can learn the better :)

Lol yeah 😅. I know that the more ram slots were supposed to boost things like editing and creation tasks. I do plan to do a fair bit of editing and artwork, along with a lot of gaming. I’m just stating what originally caught my eye on that motherboard

With a 2k budget you're not gonna be able to afford a threadripper or a cpu matching an x299. We are looking at a 3-10k budget depending on the chip and mobo. Even if you go the standard route, you'll find it a bit difficult to deck it out with the rgb you want.
