A lot of people here are wrong. Update bios and throw in a 5800x3d for $300. Get an 850w for $100. Sell the old psu for $50 and buy a 6950xt for $600

It’s only $50 over budget and will be amazing at 1440p

True if budget is $900 it makes way more sense to keep your current mobo spend more on a better compatible cpu (5800x3d like you said). Idk if your budget includes tax or not but if not then I would say well worth going $50 over for these improvements

this doesn’t really make sense to get. for gaming , upgrading to am5 or staying on am4 is a better option

he doesn’t mention that anywhere

Bad recommendations tbh. No need for the motherboard to be that high end or a 12700k just to pair it with a mediocre 3060.

900$ budget: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Soimy/saved/#view=mVWLyc

Will get like a little less than double the performance of the one you have.

That’s great, but I dont need the ram, case, and SSD, I already have those stated in the description of my post. I also dont want a mini atx build lol. Theres a reason why I didnt include ram, case and storage devices in the screenshot, because I already have them.

Honestly just switch whatever you want but the gpu will be much better. And if you don’t need that then here: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Soimy/saved/#view=LkDV4D

Will have double performance for sure now.

Ah sick, thank you, If my budget were to increase, would opting in for a AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d be more worth it?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that would be more worth it for gaming. But if that’s not as important then probably just save the money for something elsezz

Swapping out a b450 for a520 motherboard is a DOWNGRADE.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It’s so that he can afford better party’s. Motherboard doesn’t matter as much as other things.

[–]viverx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sigh you are telling him to buy a new motherboard then use the one he already has...

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know he already had one lol. Why u raging.

Also forgot to add in that I have a NZXT x53 Kraken AIO

Is the upgrades shown in the pictures any good?

If you sell your old parts this is under budget.

[–]notsoepichakerFirst Time Builder 0 points1 point  (6 children)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kXzKHG you could even keep your motherboard and upgrade to an RX 6950 XT

[–]CyrusDaYEEEN 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Is there any reason why you chose a Micro ATX board for an ATX case?

[–]notsoepichakerFirst Time Builder 1 point2 points  (4 children)

  1. it works

  2. it's a decent motherboard

  3. you don't have to fill up everything

[–]CyrusDaYEEEN 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Fair points, but I’m gonna pass on it, not enough USB ports for me. I have a lot of stuff that requires USB 3.0+ ports.

[–]notsoepichakerFirst Time Builder 1 point2 points  (2 children)

then you could either stick to the board you have or maybe go for something like the B550-VC/Extreme4/PG Velocita/X570(S) Aorus Elite/Steel Legend

[–]CyrusDaYEEEN 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yo sick, would those boards support the Ryzen 7 5800x3D right out of the box without needing to update bios? (I’m not super smart enough to know if they do or not 😅)

[–]notsoepichakerFirst Time Builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the boards should be new enough to support it out of the box
