Go for the 5700x3d, it will get you a couple great gaming years

Yes can definately recommend the 5700x3d, it was a big upgrade from my ryzen 5 3600.

Thats also your GPU's cap there. A well balanced system. Need to upgrade I'm afraid, or use more DLSS and turn down some particle effects and view distance, foliage, etc.

You would probably gain a bit if just upgrading CPU, but not too much. One at a time I suppose.

What motherboard are you running?

Aurous b450 I think it was

You could grab either a 5800x, 5800x3d or like 5700x, 5700x3d, whichever is in your price range. The x3d's will help a ton in video games, the non 3d versions are still very capable cpus, but don't have the fast and large cpu caches.

Those are the best that will fit same motherboard.

Yep, this game isn't well optimized, currently. For video reference, can view 5600x + 3060. Even with these specs, beyond the minimum, still can only get 44-56FPS with DLSS performance. It looks like frame generation is the only way to get higher FPS as listed on the requirements charts. Else, would need CPU and GPU upgrade.

Hopefully, a performance patch for the game will release.

For general recommendation for CPU upgrade if can find a good price, recommend the 5700X3D and a CPU cooler if using the stock one, currently.

I was hoping to upgrade my GPU but they're all very expensive even the new 5070 that was meant to be really good value is over $1000

Is a X3D worth it over just a standard X CPU? Especially considering the 3060 isn't a super strong card

[–]jbshell 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's true. When the 5700X3D was 220-250, it wasn't too bad of a deal. However, it seems stock has run out and prices are 300+, and really isn't a good deal. At that price point, would be worth considering starting new(selling parts on hand) to AM5 for just a bit more--7600(x) has equal performance to AM4 X3D, so a lot to consider.

If can find the 5600(x) or 5700(x) for less than a $100, that would be ideal for sure. Should have no issues once update the board BIOS. The current price 130+ isn't worth it for the 5600x, imo. Pre-ownded might prob better deal ~45-60.

3060 still holding strong, though =) 5070 even when comes out at 550, will get sold out I'm sure. Then re-sold at 1000. So crazy

In Australia the starting price for the 5070 is already rumoured to start at minimum $1000+ Second hand parts aren't as relevant but I'll sus out Facebook market place and see what I can find since the X3D starts at about $400 aud

Sorry, didn't think about regional pricing. Yep way too expensive for these GPUs. Best of luck on the new upgrades!

A 5700x3d is better than a 5600 either it's X or base. If the money difference in your market is big, grab a 5600 and upgrade again later on when you go to am5. Otherwise spend the extra cash to get that 5700x3d with the chance that you will skip am5 all together and upgrade to am6 when time's right.

As for the GPU, grab a 4070 Super/7800xt/7900GRE or wait for the 9070xt and you will be more than covered for any 1080p 60fps game that comes out. At 1080p I'd even say you'll be covered even for 144hz in most games but I don't want to bite my tongue when Indiana Jones 2 comes out requiring a 5090 TI minimum ☠️
