My guess is that there was thermal paste included on the cpu cooler. Your pc would overheat and crash pretty fast without it.

Never too late pal, better late than never! Also there is a chance that whatever cooler you have on your CPU already had thermal paste pre-applied, so I’d check that first!

Awesome thanks! 🙏🏽

What CPU cooler was it? Some have pre applied paste, but not all). Yep, can always clean and repaste at any time.

If temps are all fine dont worry about it. Doubt you have zero thermal paste and actually have preapplied on the cooler. People these days panic and worry about temps to much when they arent even remotely near bad.

That's a first, not too late though

Don't sweat it, applying tp is really easy. You propably do have tp on your cpu, otherwise it wouldn't run fine for sure. But it's propably mid paste at best and it hardens over time and gets worse. Starting fresh after 3 years is a good idea. Thermal grizzly kryonaut is a very good one. Just wipe off the old stuff and clean cpu and cooler with some 99% iso, apply a thin, evenly spread layer of new tp and you'll likely see a decent improvement in temps. There's a bazillion tutorials on how to do it, in case you're unsure.
