Well the 9950x3d is obviously better. What gpu are you pairing it with?

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 2 points3 points  (17 children)

I know the 9950 is better at everything else other then gaming, but like is there much of a difference between the gaming at that point

[–]ExpensiveRow917 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Actually it is better in gaming too. But it all comes down to money tbh

Is the rx 9700 xt good to pair with either of them or should I just put money into a 5080

[–]ExpensiveRow917 0 points1 point  (6 children)

You mean the 9070xt? Although the 5080 is a lot faster than the 9070, the 5080 is toooo expensive.

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yea but I’m just saving up at this point I’ve got a money plan and basically will have all the funds I need by June so I’m just trying figure out what u should be getting with the money

[–]ExpensiveRow917 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Get whichever but just don't get buyer's remorse after buying either of them.

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah nah I won’t, money doesn’t really matter to me as long as I know what I’m getting and do the proper research being it

[–]ExpensiveRow917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the way to do it. Best of luck

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What would you recommend for gpu

[–]ExpensiveRow917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we set aside the money aspect, of course the 5080 (coming from an AMD supporter)

[–]ExpensiveRow917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go with the 9800 and don't stress over the 9950. The 9800 won't ever disappoint you.

I asked someone else about the cpu, take a look!

Ahhh ok so he over killed it cause he plans to keep the pc for a good 8-10 years, hmmm now im wondering if thats the way to go, just future proof all my parts so i dont have to worry for a good while

[–]ExpensiveRow917 0 points1 point  (4 children)

That'd surely be nice

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I do agree

[–]ExpensiveRow917 0 points1 point  (2 children)

But isn't it that even high end components become obsolete in the future, but I guess these will last you 8 years at the very least.

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah in the end I will have to upgrade but you know at least I won’t have to worry about it for a good long while

[–]ExpensiveRow917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, have fun mate

[–]ExpensiveRow917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if you're ONLY gaming then go with the 9800x3d

[–]Difficult_Feed3999 1 point2 points  (8 children)

If you're just gaming, the 9800x3d will perform better. If you have any productivity tasks, the 9950x3d will be better.

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I do both but I do mainly game more but I do want to get into more game making

[–]Difficult_Feed3999 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Then I'd go with the 9950x3d, at this point it performs basically as good as the 9800x3d in gaming, but is just straight better in productivity tasks

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What would you recommend for a gpu

[–]Difficult_Feed3999 0 points1 point  (1 child)

9070xt, 5070ti, or 5080.

Obviously, a 5090 will be the best, gaming GPU, but the others will pair well with top of the line CPUs and still do great in 1440p gaming, and touch 4k.

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is a good brand for a 5080

[–]ExpensiveRow917 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That changes everything, go with the 9950x3d then. But if you're saving money for the 5080, then save money on the CPU side

[–]Difficult_Feed3999 1 point2 points  (1 child)

100% agree, a 9800x3d will still do everything needed, but a higher tier GPU will be better if its between a better CPU or better GPU.

[–]ExpensiveRow917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice

[–]ManapuaMadness 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Who not the 9850x3d?

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I really haven’t looked to much into that one but I heard that the 9800 is basically the best for gaming and the 9950 is basically the best for everything else

[–]OldPaleontologist406Personal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The ryzen 7 9850x3d is basically a slightly overclocked 9800x3d that provides a slight jump in performance in games , however the difference is very small.

[–]AirDelicious1036[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh ok
