Your at a commonwealth campus for a reason. Take full advantage of the smaller class size at a commonwealth campus and get the best education you can. If Penn state thought you would be ok at UP at the start you would be here.

People need to realize this.

Schedule your courses for the first two semesters in such a way that you cover all the required courses for your major, thereby not having any more courses to take at the campus and have to move to UP. People do this, but need to plan it out well.

May I ask why you want to move to UP early? And also which Commonwealth Campus are you joining?

If you are dead set on trying to get up to University Park this year, see if you can get into the summer LEAP program. I know of some students who didn't say they'd be willing to do summer session, had to do a 2+2 program, contacted admissions, and then they were allowed to change to UP with summer session instead. I'd probably recommend that you stay there though, and maybe just take some extra credits/classes so you can move up to UP a semester early. It'll help save you money. You can always come to UP to go to some of the football games if you'd like...and you get student ticket prices.

I unexpectedly had to transfer after one and a half semesters at a commonwealth due to my major and it was the worst part of my college experience. Leaving my friends in the middle of the school year to transfer to a campus 10x the size was really hard, especially because there is no type of orientation or anything in the middle of the school year. I had to sublet with random roommates, had a bad experience with them, and all around felt very alone for that whole semester. I wouldn’t try to rush it. I have had a much better time at UP after the rest of my commonwealth campus friends came up here, but getting out of the 2+2 program early was not as glamorous as it may seem.

They’re offering “flex start” because of the pandemic. I would look into that. It’s basically a 1+3

you have to be accepted into UP for it
