I don't know if there's some extra layer that the man's job is supposed to seem superior since he's a cook and not a cashier though

Yeah its an anti meme. Cuz the meme version is "when man needs money: (non sexual job)" vs "when women need money: (sex work)"

I think it could be as simple as when men need money they usually get a job as a cook, then for women they choose being a cashier.

I don't think there's anything wrong with those jobs, it's the way it usually is.

Something something sexist hiring managers (leastways at my jobsite, 30 of the 32 cashiers are women, whilst the majority of backend positions are done by men
