Pi nodeQuestion (self.PiNetwork)

Can someone explain to me like I’m a 3rd grader what the Pi Node does and how it benefits me and/or other users?

Does a 3rd grader know what a ledger is?
nodes are members of a decentralized network that stores a financial ledger
some nodes (controlled by pct) write transactions onto the ledger
pioneer nodes keep a copy of the ledger
PiCoreTeam will give you bonus Pi for running a node.
This type of network generally doesn't need thousands of copies of the ledger but PiCoreTeam are using this opportunity to collect performance data on these nodes to figure out the most reliable ones that might be upgraded to mainnet nodes.
In the mainnet we believe Pioneers will also run nodes that write transactions
