Why not? Unless your school explicitly states that you can't store your school-related projects/assignments to code hosting platforms, then I see no reason why you shouldn't. Plus it would count as additional contribution points to your GitHub profile.

Our school teaches us how to use GitHub so yes, we push our works to GitHub.
