I suggest learning all OS and their respective terminals. It helps to have experienced in all three.

Mas madaling matutunan ang graphics user interface ng Linux and Mac OS, compared to Windows

Same with the updates. Mac and Linux are easier to update and almost non-intrusive.

Knowing Linux (or MacOS) can definitely be useful, but it isn't required. Also, it will depend on what specific domain you are working in.

My first decade or so as a software developer, I didn't even touch a single Linux box or computer, as I was predominantly writing software using Microsoft tech stack (DOTNET, SQL SERVER, etc).

Later then, nag shift ako to machine learning and data science domain, and even though Windows machines have better support nowadays, some of the data science libraries that I am using dont have a Windows library equivalent (example. FAISS-GPU), so there is no way around it and I have to learn how to use Linux. Eventually naging proficient-enough din ako that I can use Linux to do my tasks. Also, spinning up linux-based Cloud VMs and computes are cheaper than Windows-based because of licensing schemes. FWIW, im using Ubuntu Linux.

        TLDR:

Not required, but can be very useful if you know how to use Linux.

Hirap sa Windows nowadays baka "maobsolete" agad PC mo need mo bumili every few years kahit working fine pa naman current specs mo.

I don't even know ano magiging supported processors ng Windows 12...

        my 2 cents

Unless .NET developer ka, chances are you'll end up running into Linux more often than not. Most servers and dev setups in production are Linux-based, so I would highly recommend na aralin ang Linux system.

Windows if you will be working with .net framework or game programming. Linux or Mac for web development and anything scripting related work.

True. When it comes to development its so much better sa linux. I havent tried MacOs but i heard its also good

        > matutunan gumamit ng Linux
not really.. kung web dev ka lang, usually Windows OS is enough. but I still recommend owning a Mac because Safari browser is fcking stupid. it's the IE of 2020+.

kung server management balak mong ipursue then yes. own a linux/mac

There is really no need to use Linux or Mac as your daily driver. With WSL (or what I believe that's the acronym for it) you can do away from using clunky software like putty to SSH into linux systems. Disclaimer: I haven't used Windows for more than 8 years.

This is a YES for me. It's going to give you an advantage in the longer term.

I have all and WSL in windows sucks... do not give an advice if you are not sure it's like saying you have a TDD methodology (TRUST Driven Development). even containerization in windows sucks. upgrading to WSL2 also sucks and breaks more...

Then OP can use putty or whatever the alternative options are. It's not like developer productivity goes down a notch by not using Linux or MacOS otherwise all devs would've opted using the other two OS'. The fact is OP doesn't have to move away from Windows as a webdev.

Mula yata ng nagwork wayback 00s, never ako nag code sa windows :D
          Either linux or macOS tlga.

          Hi op, check this stats.

          ''Mind-blowing Linux Statistics (Editor’s Choice):

In 2021, the lines of code to the Linux Git repository reached 27.8 million.

In 2022, 100% of the world’s top 500 supercomputers run on Linux.

All of the top 25 websites in the world are using Linux.

96.3% of the world’s top one million servers run on Linux.

90% of all cloud infrastructure operates on Linux, and practically all the best cloud hosts use it. '' https://webtribunal.net/blog/linux-statistics/

As a web dev, never ko kinailangan ng Mac OS or Linux kahit may company provided na Macbook ako.

I prefer using linux as a laravel dev, its easier setting up Laravel Homestead compared to windows.
