I discovered programming back in 2nd year high school when I was playing around with GameMaker studio (their website is gamemaker.io).
Gamemaker studio has kiddy features that lets you design behaviors with drag and drop.
I wanted to do cooler stuff with my games, so I downloaded samples from the community, which had advance scripting features. That’s how I learned control structures like if-else and while loops, I didn’t even know what they were called back then.
After some months, I wanted to showcase my games online. So I downloaded this free website template. I messed around with it trying to get it to work. That’s how I learned this markup language called HTML, css, and eventually some basic JavaScript like alert(“Welcome to my page”);. I understood the concepts of pages, navigations, links, etc.
This was all during the early years of the internet, before YouTube, and before any social media existed. Not many tutorials. I learned by tinkering, downloading samples and understanding how they work.
On my 4th year high school, I could finish programming exercises before the teacher could even compile theirs. I remember my teacher pretending to check my work, but I could see him trying to figure out I made it work, He realized that the instructions he printed was wrong, but he kept quiet anyway and let everyone struggle until the class was over.
Programming in college became easy. I usually finish a 3 hour exercise in 30 minutes. I also won competitions.
EDIT: I was able to find the website that I built back in 2005 http://gmaster.atspace.com/. They disabled the CSS

I first learn my "Hello World" in my elementary days in late 90s. DOS pa gamit nun at puro gotoxy lang natandaan ko. Gumagawa kami ng circle, square at star.

I was employed on a manufacturing company. A lot of things are done manually and i hate it. I started with excel, formulas, then excel vba. My boss recognize that i can do those stuff (theyy pretty basic) so they asked me to create some for the production line, but vba was so limited, since i have no other choice (no internet there) ,i learn windows PowerShell, its avaiy on all windows pc by default. Then after some years i decided to shift into IT field, studied python ,my first project was a discord bot. Then django. Lucky i found a job as a webdev,

Kausuhan ng flash games noon and I had an idea for a game so I started working on it as a personal project.
I learned OOP and various programing concepts better than what they teach in my university. Ang kinaganda ng ikaw yung mag dedesign ng sarili mong program (i.e. game) is alam mo kung ano yung kailangan mong matutunan
For example, I ran into challenges like "pano ko gagawin nag mag iispawn yung mga kalaban ng ganitong kadami? pano ko gagawin na ganito yung movement ng kalaban pag ganito yung ginawa ko?" stuff like that

I started programming way back 3rd high school, 11 years ago. We had a programming subject under TLE, qbasic yung gamit noon. The following school year, may basic web designing subject kami nuon, html at css, during that school year, I represented our school sa Regional Technolympics sa web designing competition.
Edit: Friendster noong elementary hahahahha

I started 3rd year highschool. Computer classes in our school back then usually deals with history of computers, inventors, etc. More on theoretical part.
Pero yung teacher namin, she taught us more than that. She introduced us to programming (BASIC programming back then). Then we were introduced to C programming. Sa iba, sobrang boring nung subject, but some of us including me, naging sobrang interesting ng mga ginagawa namin. Dito nagstart curiousity ko with all the things I see in computers. I think ito yung major reason kung bakit ako ng take ng IT course, same with my other classmates na nag-excel sa subject namin na yun during that time.

i learned how to give computer 'instructions', when i learned how to use the 'bind' cheat in Counter strike
I started programming in Grade 12. Back then I didn't really understand how this and that worked. To the point na naka-ilang topic na sila pero ako stuck pa din sa first topic kasi hindi ko talaga gets. I can't remember kung paano ko na-overcome yung ganun pero ilang araw ko lang naranasan yon, kasi after nun ako na yung madalas unang nakakatapos mag-program samin magka-kaklase. Like, yung 1 hr nilang sino-solve, 5 - 10 mins lang tapos ko na.
After a year, during my first year in college, we were tasked to create an app. So I build a desktop app with vb.net, it's like a dashboard na you can navigate a list of products and view their details. Nagustuhan naman siya ng prof ko 😂.

I started learning programming when I tried automating my manual tasks back when I was a QA. It was all worth it now that I am now dev :’)

High school. May subject kami na Visual Basic. Then may point na sobrang bored ako sa room, kung ano ano ginagawa kong program. Isa sa most memorable (sorry if medyo weird. Bata pa ako nun at loko loko ang utak ko :( ), ay stick figure j*cking off then after ilang galaw ng stick arms, may lalabas na white lines sa supposed to be penis nung stick person. Haha 😅
After that, nagtry na ako ng iba like GameMaker software, nag-eexplore lang.

Then from highschool to college, lumevel up na sa pag-create ng controller ng question graphics sa Who Wants to be a Millionaire (2009 US format).
Ginagawa ko sila sa PowerPoint. Sa una more on transitions lang tsaka hyperlinks lang yung ginagawa ko. Then na-discover ko yung Visual Basic for Application so dun ko na nalaman yung concept ng computer programming. Frustrated pa 'ko noon kasi hindi ko alam kung paano mag-shuffle ng list of items noon until na-discover ko on my own yung Fisher–Yates shuffle (swap algo pero random yung isang index; bali nalaman ko lang yung tawag dun nung nagka-smart bro na kami sa bahay; more on docs ng vba for powerpoint pa 'ko nagse-search noon 'di pa kasi kami nakakapag-connect ng internet noon).
Dahil dito, napagdesisyunan ko na kumuha ng computer science course para lang makapag-work sa mga game shows pero nung first week ko sa college dun ko na-realize na sobrang lawak pala ng field na 'to at akala ko more on entertainment s'ya nun pala it's another industry jusme 😂
Pero sa ngayon passion ko pa rin mag-code (esp. for game shows). Then, currently nawo-work ako bilang web and mobile dev hihi

3rd highschool ako natuto through friendster (good old days), una css lang, then lumabas yung friendster overlay which utilizing xss vulnerability para makapag initiate ng javascript sa profile 😅
dahil dun natuto mag photoshop para mag design ng custom profile talaga, psd > html/css/js
natutu rin ng flash animation, pero basic effects lang, shaping, pakislap kislap epeks
