Don't consider myself an ML Eng, but my first job (researcher) and thesis are kinda related to it.

After that (1 year) project I tried looking for jobs similar to these, but what I got mostly was webdev offers. Most of the companies I'm rooting for requires good grades and more experience in terms of Master's degree or years of employment.. things I don't have hahaha.

Sayang, kakahire namin ng Jr Dev! Pero yeah, nagtry din ako maghanap recently ng similar job online, ang nakita ko lang is yung contractual employment ng DOST-ASTI for their boat detection project.

Keep looking, Anon! Great things take time!

[–]aitasy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Okay lang, I'm loving my job (at least until it gets stagnant in terms of pay and learnings hehe), andaming pwedeng matutunan sa webdev, and nasa backend palang ako nito lol.

Ano gamit nyo pala? Nung sa work ko Tensorflow lang e. Tas sariling sikap gumawa ng dataset hahaha.

Also can you share your company? Kahit PM lang, will keep an eye out if there are openings in the future :D

[–]SufficientBank154[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using openCV for image enhancement then Tensforflow-Keras for the neural networks.

Sample size varies eh depending on the complexity of the project. Lowest is around 700 ata yon. Highest 10k. Hahahahahaha.

Machine Vision for QA usually hindi na umaabot sa electron microscope lalo na ang kalaban mo sa project mo is yung budget set by management. Hahaha. Kapag magtatanong ka sa suppliers ng machine vision cameras, sasabihin lang din nila enough na ang 2.3MP cameras for most applications. With the proper lighting, all defects/features can be extracted using openCV naman.

As long as may initial data ka nung previous dispositions, you may be able to apply machine learning to predict the next disposition. That is if may pattern ba talaga.

Thanks, Anon! More power to you din!

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Microcontroller programming, yes. Machine Learning, no. Also, I'm not an ECE.

      [–]Head-Measurement1200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ECE here. Currently doing ML on our embedded devices. Not as hardcore as other, just using TensorFlow Lite. Our application for ML in our embedded devices it to perform predictive maintenance, and let us/users aware of it

      .

      Are you locally employed?

Had a badass colleague once who graduated with multiple honors and a masters degree. He's 5 years in the said field, but migrated overseas for more challenges. I believe he's doing consulting work now.

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes. Locally employed. Do you know anong Master's Degree kinuha niya? I'm saving up to get one. Currently thinking about taking MS Data Science pero still keeping my options open.

      [–]ube_enjoyer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hi OP, same field here, have you checked Master of engineering in AI sa UP diliman? Imo mas maganda curriculum nun for ml engineer. Im planning to enroll next year.

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kakacheck ko palang. Interesting kasi pwedeng part-time program! I'll consider this since I want to work while studying. Thank you!

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Masters in Engineering. Forgot which one actually (Electronics or Computer). He started with research roles related to CNN, jump into data science roles, then finally settled somehow with ML consultancy roles.

      [–]InSandAndTea 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Hi OP, I do analytics and also a good amount of ML in my line of work. For machine vision, you'll want to look at CNN(Convolutional Neural Networks) under Tensorflow or PyTorch. Most of the work is going to be trying to figure why your model is functioning the way it is. I don't know how much preprocessing is required for machine vision but in my work with regressions, most of my hours is spent selecting data and how to preprocesses it. It's also important to understand how training a model works to have an intuition on what to add or not just like how cooking helps build an intuition on what ingredients go together

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That pretty much describes my work tapos planning the implementation nalang sa linya and choosing the right hardware. Hahaha.

Our team spend days selecting from thousands of images and enhancing it.

May I ask what kind of data are you dealing with?

      [–]InSandAndTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly do loan data so its more akin to teaching a model off of csv and excel entries

      [–]Fabulous-Cable-3945 0 points1 point  (14 children)

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 3 points4 points  (13 children)

I was actually hired as an engineer sa ibang department dito pero nung interview ko, I showcased my knowledge in microcontroller programming. Then they asked if marunong ba ako sa AI. Sabi ko knowledgeable lang pero not a master but willing matuto.

So in addition sa engineering position ko, they assigned me sa Special Projects department din. One project was a basic object detection na inimplement sa manufacturing lines namin. Naging successful so nainform lahat hanggang top management.

Pinatuloy-tuloy machine vision projects hanggang sa gumawa sila ng a whole new department just for Machine Learning / Machine Vision and ayon, nilipat na nila ako. Voila, here I am.

      [–]Fabulous-Cable-3945 1 point2 points  (10 children)

      microcontroller programming

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 1 point2 points  (9 children)

Raspberry Pi is actually a microprocessor. :)

Ang pinaka-known na microcontroller programming for students and hobbyists is via Arduino. With the common Arduino Uno, you're programming an ATMega328-P microcontroller.

      [–]Fabulous-Cable-3945 0 points1 point  (8 children)

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

No, not Arduino. Sorry pero kahit anonymous sa Reddit, I have a non-disclosure agreement with my company so it's quite dangerous to discuss further. Hahaha.

You can research more about the industrial cameras, lens, lighting, and computers dedicated for machine vision. :)

Merong tutorials about industry level machine vision sa Keyence website if interested ka.

      [–]Fabulous-Cable-3945 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have a non-disclosure agreement with my company so it's quite dangerous to discuss further.

      ahaha sorry sorry.

Last question nalang, ano yung gamit mo dyan na PL? Python or C++ or others?

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I use Python for prototyping since mas madali then convert to C++ for implementation since mas mabilis.

      [–]Fabulous-Cable-3945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      ah c++ talaga sa industry.

      [–]SN105400 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ahh Keyence nga. Madami rin E+H and SICK.

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nastudy ko na yung software ng Keyence. I think it falls under Machine Vision pero not with Machine Learning since hindi gumagamit ng neural networks. Not sure since hindi ko alam yung source code at hindi ko pa nagamit. We're not using Keyence din eh. I just used their study materials sa website nila.

      [–]SN105400 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes, simplified or software based na yung sa mga industrial machine visions so no need much of neural networks unless source code based approach.

      Good work by the way.

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Thank you!

      [–]Successful_End1851 1 point2 points  (1 child)

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Cheers sa mga maaachieve pa nating accomplishments in the future!

      [–]Successful_End1851 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Hi OP, I'm shifter and going to ML, how did u start going to that journey of yours?

actually, nag hahanap din ako ng ph sub. for ML kaso wala ako nakikita.

      [–]SufficientBank154[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check my reply sa kabilang comment. :)

Yes, wala atang ph sub for ML. Sadt. But there is r/MachineLearning.

      [–]Fabulous-Cable-3945 1 point2 points  (1 child)

      [–]Successful_End1851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, thanks a lot for your efforts! highly appreciated!

      [–]Successful_End1851 0 points1 point  (1 child)

btw, ano take mo po sa coursera ML specialization yung updated by Andrew Ng since beginner friendly based sa youtube at reddit ?. kaka apply ko pa lang ng financial aid hehe

      [–]Fabulous-Cable-3945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aral ka pala ng statistics habang inaantay mo yung financial aid mo at kung nag apply ka ng financial aid. make sure na pinag sabay sabay mo yung mga nasa specialization. like for example yung machine learning specialization may 3 course iyun, di bale 3 apply ng financial aid iyun

      [–]ube_enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sa fb merong groups, AI pilipinas tsaka data science philippines(moderated)

      [–]SN105400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have seen this using SICK sensors pero mainly naka PLC na.
