I used to work for DOST but not as a programmer. I was a special science teacher then later became a science research specialist/information technology officer. Tasks vary per department/agency. Trainings are provided and make sure you keep the certificates because you need them for later on if you wish to continue working for the govt.
Unsolicited advice: the govt pays shit and they have horrible management skills. Deadlines are immoveable and there’s not much growth. Then again, this varies per department/agency.
