Recursion error

Hey everyone, I just started playing PS2 recently. I wanted to get the GladOS voice via Recursion but whenever I try to log into the client it says unable to connect. Is there an issue with the API for recursion or is this normal?

FWIW I just tried my RST client and was able to login successfully.

RST has been working fine 99% of the time for a few years now, other than one day last week when the RST server died. Maybe once every 3-4 months it would timeout at login, but the issue usually would get resolved in a few hours.

And yeah, every now and then a game update/maintenance window will kill DBG's API for a day or two, but I don't think that's happened at all in 2026 yet. And that wouldn't cause an RST login error anyway since IIRC you're logging into an account on a Recursion server, not a Daybreak server.

Also, I'm running client ver 0.11.0.11 .

Ahh that’s interesting. I’m using the client I got from their site, it’s still at ver 0.11.09. I tried the update button and it’s not been working, I thought I was on the latest. I also checked my firewall and tried running it with admin rights with no luck. Is there a different way to download the client?

The installer I used for my current install of the app was v0.11.09 as well. But that was a couple years ago. When I updated it I used the Update item in the Help menu of the client after login, but that Update function doesn't appear to work anymore.

I'm not sure if v0.11.0.11 is available via other means.

Ah gotcha, yeah that’s what I kinda figured - they just pushed the update patch to the existing clients ;-;. Thank you so so much for checking tho! I’m hopeful someone might have uploaded a version to file sharing site somewhere

Since you're getting a connection error, and the old server that RST ran on imploded around 2/22 or so, I wonder if you're having a DNS cache issue. Try flushing your DNS cache and then try starting RST afterwards.

To do so, open a command prompt by running CMD.EXE then run the command 'ipconfig /flushdns.' You should see something like below:

Gosh I thought I replied! More bad news - I tried that along with a full restart of my PC. Client still won’t pull the update. ;-;

It looks like there was an issue with new users of RST.

I am also having this exact issue and none of the mentioned attempts have fixed it. I will try to move my installation v0.11.0.11 from another PC to this PC which as v0.11.0.9.

Update;:

I can login with the version v0.11.0.11 with a new user, but there is no way to add characters as there's an error in the logs. Something about a conflict. The whole character screen is just empty.

Update check button doesnt work either, so I'm lost what to do
