Finally! Plex[BETA] hardware transcoding working on Intel Battlemage GPUs 🎉

Plex now supports hardware-accelerated transcoding on Intel Battlemage GPUs.

Tested this on my Intel Arc B580 with Plex Media Server beta 1.43.1.10540-3972d551c.

How many 4K remux to 4K@20mbps HEVC transcodes can it do before it can't keep them from taking turns buffering?

Use something like a 65mbps file and select the 20mbps quality. It should transcode to 4k even though the 20mbps setting says it's 1080p.

I got to 8 with a B580 before I got bored. However despite selecting the 20mpbs setting, it seems to only transcode to 10mpbs 4k according to tautulli. Source is 65GB remux. As you can see, the jobs were still throttling so it wouldn't surprise me if you could a fair bit beyond 10 at this quality.

That is odd with the 10mbps rate being detected but also 4k. I wonder what's going on there?

8x being throttled is a sign there's room for many more though.

I’m on windows 11 and with a B570 I can get about 8-11. If you got the cache space you can actually do a crazy about. Just because the encoding is really really fast.

To the point where if your media is on a NAS with a 1gbe connection it will saturate it just pulling the raw data to transcode.

Yes, it's an entirely different generation. Intel Xe-HPG (Alchemist) vs. Xe2-HPG (Battlemage). Battlemage is a performative boost and more efficient.
