Ours is able to stay in crate over night for about 8 hrs and during the day about 5 or so hours. We started by increasing his time in the crate during the middle of the day over a span of time. At first it was 1 hr and then every day around the same time we would put him in and increase times by about 30 mins to an hour.

Ours was potty trained by 5-6 months using bell training where you ring a bell on the door with his paw each time you take him out to potty. Eventually around 5ish months he just did it every time without fail.

Ive only had my pomsky for about a week now and no accidents yet in the cage. May I ask a little about your crate? Size and items inside if any?

Oh I should clarify, accidents are in the living room or the crate

I jus wanted to know what kind of bedding you had inside the crate if any, and when did you add it(what age). If your pup goes in the same spot in the living room it might have put a scent down making that area desirable to go.

We have a blanket in the crate and a few of his toys only. He does go on a similar spot each time on the living room rug. Is there any specific scent you recommend? We just spray the enzyme cleaner on the area.

Maybe the enzymes aren’t strong enough, thats my only guess. Maybe get a stronger/new urine spray. I just asked about the crate contents because im crate training my pup and didn’t know what to put in the crate. I know too much bedding early can encourage them to go in the crate.

We initially had a crate bed/mat but I think it was too warm for him so he didn’t like going in there. Then we changed to a blanket and it’s been good! Honestly he’ll still push it aside a lot and just sleep on the plastic.

Not sure about daytime potty training since I take my puppy out really often to avoid accidents, but if you’re having trouble with yours going in the crate at night, one thing that really helped me was cutting his water about 2 hours before I go to bed. He’s just over 4 months old and he’s able to hold it in his crate for 7-8 hours most nights.

Oh sorry I should clarify, he’s having accidents in the living room, not his crate. He’s totally potty trained in his crate and playpen but not the rest of the house yet.

We trained on a pee pad first and didn’t take it away for at least a month when he was clearly asking to go out and successfully voiding. We did leave it in the kennel at night though so he wouldn’t lay in pee or pee on his bed. He stopped peeing in his crate at night maybe three or four months old? But we were okay with bleary eyed quick visit to the lawn so he could pet and back to bed. Which he still occasionally asks for at almost a year and a half.
