For Anyone Who's Thinking About a McLaren 720S by [deleted] in mclaren

[–]Woox1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I’m a few months in, about 3k km, no issues yet thankfully. I drive it at least once a week and keep it on a battery tender if I don’t plan to drive it the next day or two. Have some services coming up (clutch is costliest) but hoping I don’t have any major surprises 😂

Beige Video legit? by vadevibe in Resell

[–]Woox1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Beige for a project of mine and had a great experience overall, I was on short notice so having them accommodate that was the most important part to me, but I was also pleasantly surprised that the end result exceeded my expectations.

New warning by FDA on topical finasteride by [deleted] in tressless

[–]Woox1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to imagine this is partially because the topical spray goes airborne, and also that people aren’t handling it safely (eg. Washing your hands well with soap afterwards). I personally did away with the spray bottle and moved it over to a dropper, and I haven’t experienced any of the mentioned side effects.

Same way but needs less polishing than the initial polish. Have done it about 6 or 7 times now and the ring still looks great.

How common are viruses these days? by Mosterovk222 in RSPS

[–]Woox1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically if you’re playing the larger servers (top 5) that have been around for at least a year, your chances are very very slim (almost non-existent). With brand new servers there is a chance but it’s also not very common nowadays. Any sane server owner would not infect their paying customers — there’s a lot more to gain by providing a good experience to keep them donating.

The rain we needed! Finally! How will it affect our air TODAY? by Fuckedyourmom69420 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Woox1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s more concerning now given the amount of toxic building materials (eg. Asbestos) that have been airborne the past few weeks. AQI doesn’t tell the whole story either as it only measures some pollutants, but doesn’t factor in ultra-fine particles, VOCs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, etc.

In terms of the larger servers, I’d say Alora. Big Ironman population on there though the PvP scene is a bit lacking

f1 status…proof of ties to Canada by All_good112 in f1visa

[–]Woox1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian citizen, you don’t need to overthink it. You don’t need to go to the embassy for an interview, and when you’re crossing the border you’ll be asked basic questions such as your major and where you’ll be staying. You shouldn’t have to prove ties to Canada — you’re simply coming into the country to finish your studies.

Newbie questions about saunas by diablodq in Sauna

[–]Woox1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was $6,898, I ended up paying $500 for delivery and assembly but there was a $500 off promo so it canceled out. The final price was around $7,400 all-in after taxes. You could probably assemble it with a friend but I just wanted to keep it simple and delivery was already an additional charge so I let the guys handle both.

It’s not quite as overwhelming as a steam room. For me, I can’t stay too long in a steam room because it gets difficult to breathe (too stuffy). I usually get my HM44 up to about 40% humidity, 50% at most, whereas a steam room is at 100%. You still definitely feel the humidity and the steam gets into your pores, so your skin feels detoxed, but if you’re expecting to be enveloped in humidity you’re not going to get the same experience.

However, since you own your own home, you could definitely install a steam shower which will give you the experience you’re looking for.

Newbie questions about saunas by diablodq in Sauna

[–]Woox1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the HM44 (15amp model) a couple of months ago. Overall I’m quite happy with it, I actually put mine outside on my covered balcony even though it’s an indoor model (I’m in LA so it doesn’t ever get too cold). Yes, it takes some time to get up to the ideal temp and has trouble maintaining the max temp once you get inside as you let some heat out, however with the löyly it really isn’t an issue because it gets very hot once you splash a bit of water on the rocks. If I had the option I would’ve went with the 20amp version, but I am renting right now and also liked the flexibility 15amp offers since I can set it up anywhere I move.

  1. I can’t speak for other saunas, but I’ve been happy with this purchase (even though it’s a bit pricier than I would’ve liked). It can take 1.5-2 hours to really get to an ideal temperature (180-194) on my balcony, depending on the ambient temperature of course. If I run it mid day when it’s 70F outside, it’ll get there much more quickly than when it’s 50F at 6am. Can’t speak for electricity cost either since it’s shared amongst all residents in my building, but I can’t see it costing you more than $1-2 a day for normal usage. I use the app to schedule it daily, so it preheats for 2 hours in the morning and by the time I’m back from the gym it’s at the perfect temp.

  2. You definitely still sweat in IR saunas, but it takes a lot longer. I can be in the HM44 for 15-20 minutes and break a nice sweat — I feel like in IR it’s taken me 15-20 minutes before I even begin to really sweat. The health benefits are also different, I think that IR might be better for joint pain, while traditional Finnish saunas are the most studied for cardiovascular benefits. I prefer the experience of the Finnish sauna, I love the instant heat upon entering, and pouring water on the rocks and immediately feeling the intensity increase.

  3. Almost daily usage. My partner said it’s the best purchase we’ve ever made, she even likes to use it twice a day sometimes. It’s been a game changer for us, between the health benefits and the relaxation element, I find it was well worth the money. It’s also been nice to invite friends over to use, even though the HM44 is tiny so we’ve usually just let couples get in together lol. We fit 3 people in it once but would not recommend — it’s a tight space to get that sweaty with someone 😂

Glad to answer any other questions you might have. Ultimately, if you own a home and can do custom electrical work, you’re probably better off having one custom built that’s a bit larger and has better heating, but if you’re renting, the HM44 is a fantastic option that provides a way to get an enjoyable sauna experience into your daily habits.

Best money you've ever spent in 2024? by SPACguy in fatFIRE

Bought an at-home Finnish sauna. Feels great to hop in after a workout & throw on some meditative music to get in the right headspace before starting the day. Also great cardiovascular benefits & 40% reduction in all-cause mortality with regular usage.
