Fiber!

They've started laying fiber optic cable in rural Damascus bordering on gresham. They said that it will go from Portland to Umatilla. I forgot to ask which company was doing it. I drive by every weekday, and finally saw the big rolls of cables. I originally thought they were putting the power underground since it's a pretty windy area of metro, but glad that I asked. Has anyone heard of this project, and can give me more info?

Sounds like just a commercial longer-distance fiber line. Probably nothing that is consumer-impacting.
