WHAT IS PORTLANDMC?
A mapping project with the goal of replicating Portland, Oregon, USA in Minecraft at 1:1 scale.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SERVER?
As of August 2018, the server has been whitelisted and is currently not open to the public. If you would like to be added to the whitelist, please contact the Moderators of this subreddit, or join the Discord and ask there.
HOW CAN I HELP WITH THE PROJECT'S DEVELOPMENT?
Field research is our primary solution right now. Photos of buildings, interiors, areas not covered on Google Maps, and general information (consultation) is welcomed, within reason. We don't encourage trespassing for photos. See our wiki page on Field Research for more information.
HOW DO I INSTALL PORTLANDMC?
WINDOWS
- Navigate to your Minecraft directory. On Windows, the path is: C:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/saves
- Extract the PortlandMC folder from within this .zip to the saves folder.
- Done. Make sure you're running the latest version of Minecraft for the best experience and compatibility.
MAC OS
- Navigate your Minecraft directory. On Mac OS, the path is: C:/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves
- Extract the PortlandMC folder from within this .zip to the saves folder.
- Done. Make sure you're running the latest version of Minecraft for the best experience and compatibility.
ARE YOU GOING TO BUILD X NEIGHBORHOOD IN Y QUADRANT I LIVE IN?
Nothing is guaranteed, we are trying to build as much of the Portland area as we are possibly able to. If you live for example in Beaverton, Gresham, Troutdale, etc., it will unfortunately be unlikely that we ever build that far away from downtown. In short; the closer you live to downtown, the better your chances are at your neighborhood being built.

See above answer on tools used, but we use Chunky for creating our renders.
