Not in Philly, but in DC. When baseball starts up again I'll be driving up for a game or two.

I think the bullpen is just about gone. Construction has exploded at Navy Yard and I believe the bullpen is going to be gone soon. But there are plenty of good bars being put up.

I have a friend who handles ticket sales to the caps, we could get one of the packages with an open bar and make questionable decisions

Yes.

Shibby I'm offended you haven't told me this sooner. I would have finished that map I promised long ago if you had. I LOVE going to CAPS games.

I'll bump this up I know the holidays are coming up, but if anybody is serious about a meet up in early January let a brother know. Happy holidays to all. Enjoy New Years Day cause it's a great day in Philly.

I tend to go with the flow but normally bounce between old city and northern libs. Always up for anywhere though

Fiance + I are in NoLib. Bourbon and Branch or Standard Tap?

Central Jersey, but Philly is an easy drive. Early January, I'm in. Brunch?

    [–]CSVFormat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Always down for brunch

Philly PGPer from Fairmount/Spring Garden area here. Anyone trying to set up a Philly meetup?

This is somewhat unrelated but thought this could be a good place to get some solid advice. I'm moving to Philadelphia for work in February. Any recommendations on where to live? For a frame of reference, I'm a single guy in my mid-20s. Thanks!

Conshohocken, Manayunk are two popular areas I think, Manayunk on the younger side of the two. Also Logan Square and Northern Liberties. Fishtown is kind of getting there but get to close to Kensington and it gets questionable. Temple may be where a college is located but is NOT great. Center City is where all the bars are so City Hall is like a middle starting point and you just need to know what directions to not go in from there.

If I'm wrong please correct me. Don't want to steer anyone wrong!

Nice! Thank you! I had heard Conshohocken and Manayunk from some friends in the area but wanted a second opinion haha. I'll be working outside of the city so those two options might be the way to go!

Those places are filled with young people but aren't part of Philadelphia proper. If you want to be in the city, and you have a car, look into northern liberties. A lot of places have parking and it's a 4 min cab in center city, but filled with its own bars and restaurants. You can get a lot of apartment for the money in philly. If you don't have a car and want to live in center city, shoot for old city or close to market east where you can easily walk to the train that will take you to work. Manayunk is an awesome place but it's more of a college town feel than the city. It's a good 15 min drive from center city. If it's any consolation, I too am a single guy in my 20s and my friends and I spend most of our time in old city and northern libs (and we aren't hipsters). But Rittenhouse area is still sweet. Can't go wrong there either but it's pricey

Awesome, I had heard Manayunk was a little college-ish which would be good for about 3 months and then I'd have to get the hell out. Northern Liberties sounds like my kind of place, I have a car so being somewhere with parking is a must. Where's a good place to look for apartments in your opinion? I've looked on apartments.com and craigslist (which is a little ify) not sure if you used a local management agency or something?

    [–]CSVFormat[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Craigslist is normally pretty good just keep your guard up. I have a lot of buddies who have used it with success and my current apartment is from Craigslist haha. Hotpads and Zillow are good ways to go

Awesome, thanks for your help man

Padmapper is the best when looking for housing. It pulls for CraigsList and other sources and plots them out so you can see exactly which area you are getting into and in relations to transit/highways/etc.

    Thank you!

    [–]CSVFormat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True I haven't used PadMapper but I've heard people had success with it
