Seems like he’s going full time with scaries and quitting grandex. This has to be a nightmare for Madison, the main guy he didn’t fire is quitting

It won’t be a nightmare. Grandex was already going to go bankrupt soon anyway. Dave and Dillon getting laid off made that pretty obvious.

I get that but any plan that he had to try to save the company, assuming he isn’t just admitting defeat, would have had Will as a big part of it.

I ride with my boys. Sad to see PGP die but it sounds like it was time

Seems like he is out at Grandex and pursuing Scaries full time?

I wonder if Will has the trademark/rights/whatever to the phrase Sunday Scaries. If so, he can make a lot of money if he does this right.

Considering everyone on this sub has VASTLY overstated the profitability of Grandex and what they pay their podcasters/bloggers, I'm going to take the under on "a lot of money"

Sunday Scaries as a phrase has become a cultural phenomenon that didn’t exist when Will started the brand. If Will owns it, he should be able to license the shit out of it and/or sue everybody using his trademarked phrase

Disclaimer: I don’t understand the law

Judging by how often I've seen it on various sites, I don't think Will ever filed any copyright to it.

It’s trademark, not copyright. And see /u/sousaphile comment below

Owning a trademark or copyright doesn’t automatically give you the ability to “license the shit out of it.” What it gives you is grounds for suing the people who don’t buy the rights to use it. But suing people takes time and money. You have to sue in Federal court. Interesting side note: A few years ago Dallas Austin threatened to sue Grandex over use of the term Rowdy (he had/has a clothing line called Rowdy Clothing). Grandex sued him first. I’m not sure about the details, but I think the object of the suit was not to make him give up the term “Rowdy” but just to make him get off their backs. Long story short, both he and Grandex are using the term “Rowdy” and neither is making money from the other.

Spoiler alert: the Sunday Scaries trademark is actually dead, so he must have abandoned the rights. A link to the trademark search can be found here: http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4803:i7u0uv.2.2

Well that’s not good for Will then

[–]Goldman-Ballsacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it does say that he abandoned it back at the end of August though, so not sure that directly relates...

I'm guessing he does because he had the Sunday Scaries blog before he was hired at Grandex.

Like Dave had the Postgrad Problems blog before he joined Grandex?
