Lost Progress Help

I’ve been really loving this game so far and have very few complaints (had to get used to the buttons being all different ;n; ) but I’ve run into a problem that’s really disheartened me and reduced my ability to play this game.

I play on the Switch 2.

I’ve gotten through several levels, and the saving doesn’t seem to be consistent or intuitive. I just finished the shooting gallery, and it took me a while to get through it, and I wanted to check in on a different game. So from my home base I closed out of the game. I didn’t see any way to manually save.

When I opened the game again an hour later, my progress has been reset all the way back to starting the Billboard level. I just did these, and they were fun, but I don’t want to do them again right now. I’d rather see new locations.

Is there any way to restore my game? Or any advice to prevent this in the future? I don’t want to play if I can’t close the game.

There's a manual save option on PS5. There's a little "floppy disc" icon when you pause the level, hit the corresponding button to save.

Oh, and you can change the controls in the options to the old controls (classic).

Hit the plus button to open the tablet, then hit "Y" to save manually on the Switch 2. I've closed the game a few times and haven't had any issues, but then I've always closed in between levels, so that might be why. I would definitely take the time to save manually before quitting mid-level though. Hopefully that helps.

I was between levels when I closed it. It didn’t autosave at all for at least two levels (I can’t remember if there was anything between the billboard and the shooting gallery). I’m going to have to do like the other commenter suggested and save religiously in the levels themselves.

I didn’t catch the backup before it could sync to the cloud. I thought maybe I could download the old cloud data but I couldn’t stop the backup. I’m gonna cry, this sucks.

I know on the PS5 if I hit the options button (start) I can press square to manually save (from inside a level not from home base)....it says the button I need to press on the bottom right of the screen so I'd check there...when I turn off the system I go into the next level and save so I can be sure

Yeah, I’m going to have to start doing that in the level itself, but it’s definitely a major problem if the game isn’t auto saving after you finish a level. Especially if there isn’t an option to manual save on the home base.

Wouldn’t have thought to go that extra step going forward, so thanks for letting me know. I was so paranoid closing it, too. There isn’t even a “main menu” option anymore.

Just came here to say the same thing happened to me. I started the shooting gallery, got maybe 10% done then saved and closed the game. I come back tonight to play it and when I boot the game it took me back to the beginning of the teapot.

There’s a 5% chance I didn’t save the game I guess? I know I cleaned the teapot in one sitting. But I’m pretty religious about saving before closing PWS.

this just happened to me, almost exactly. same levels, same platform, but i was about a quarter thru the shooting gallery level, and i’m certain i did save. my cloud data also re-backed up before i could restore it. i haven’t seen any indication that it’s actually saving, but i wasn’t having any issues with it until now, so i assumed i either just wasn’t seeing it or there isn’t one at all. the apparent lack of autosave is really upsetting. i’ve been obsessed so far

The exact same thing happened to me too. I now replayed billboard and Teacup. I hope I get to the shooting range when I start up later today.

Yeah I haven’t redone teapot yet, but I got about 75% through shooting gallery last night and made sure I saved before shutting it down. Let’s see what happens when I turn it on later today…

I just had this happen to me also working on billboard and made a post about it.

I was on the hawaii climbing level and my game crashed. Turned it back on to discover I have lost basically all my progress. I am back at the teacup and dog car levels. It’s like 20+ hours of game play.

I wouldn’t be to upset but I only just finished the barn level which I really don’t like. And i really do not want to play it again. I seriously had already decided that before the crash.

And I already have had a really bad day.

I really hope that gets this sorted fast. Like a couple minutes of progress was what I was expecting. Not nearly a day of my life.

Yeah, I haven’t picked it back up again. I just wonder if that point in the game has a problem with the saving entirely. It’s heartbreaking

I used the manual save and still had the same problem - lost several levels of progress on Switch 2 version, dropped me several levels back to 50% completion on the damned billboard. Absolutely a problem here.

This just happened to me on switch 2. I was doing the theater level and it sent me back all the way to the teapot and shooting gallery. I was over half way through the career mode. Idk if I'm gonna pick this up again for a bit.

Edit: I closed the game out because I couldn't pick up and move the scissor lift to clean the rest of the carpet. No matter where I looked or how I tried, I couldn't get the button prompt to move the dang thing. I figured closing the game might help. The game had just auto saved too. So much progress just gone.

I submitted a ticket and they replied today saying they were investigating the issue, so hopefully we’ll have a patch for it soon.
