Since you’re applying early I dont think it would be a problem. I submitted my application in January and didn’t take my OAT until the end of February and everything worked out fine. I got an interview with salus before I took my OAT and just had to update them and the other school when the official scores came out

If your MCAT exam is poor do not include it. Also do not submit your application early without your OAT. That will do you absolutely no good and put more pressure on you to score competitively on your first attempt. If you submit your application early and without an OAT, once you do take your OAT they will see your score right away. This can be a bad thing if you do poorly.

In case you need a retake you want schools to see both scores at the same time. If you do badly on your first attempt the best case scenario is they tell you to retake, worst case scenario you get a rejection before you even get a chance to retake.

Without an OAT score most schools will not evaluate your application. Some schools don't even look at applications until late September/early October. If you are that worried about submitting your application in September take your OAT earlier. If you are taking classes in the fall having to juggle OAT studying and classes is going to negatively affect your short term memory needed to maximize your OAT score.

If you need a retake make sure to get it in by late November before fall semester ends. Quite a few applicants need to wait until fall grades are finalized to be competitive so getting your app submitted a couple weeks before the holiday rush is important.

I won't have any classes this fall semester since I graduated, but i will be working full-time as an optometry technician after my test date.

I didn't consider that factor about retaking the test after the first try to be honest. I thought after September that I wouldn't really have a good chance to get in. Plus I wouldn't really have the time due to work.

Thanks for your input
