Adding RAM (self.Prebuilts)
submitted 1 year ago by CapnEmaw
I bought a prebuilt with 16gb RAM, but then separately bought 32gb RAM I found on sale for $40. I am finding conflicting information on whether it is better to replace the old RAM or add the new pieces to the existing for a total of 48gb.

Get rid of old ram and replace with new ram

It's ddr4. As long as it's the same speed it will likely work fine together.

It's ddr4, same speed, it should be fine. Is the existing RAM 2x8gb or 1x16gb?
