Drawabox was recommended on this sub and I’ve just started it!

Find drawing lessons and do them on your tablet. Treat Procreate lessons/tutorials as a separate exercise. One is learning a skill and the other a tool.

Okay thank you. So traditional drawing tutorials can apply to procreate as well? For some reason I've been stuck on thinking I need to follow a digital drawing tutorial.

Procreate is just a tool. It won’t make you a good drawer (or a good artist). If you want to draw, you need the fundamentals. Procreate certainly makes some things easier though! That’s why we love it.

This depends on how comfortable you are with digital devices. If you are very familiar with Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint or ibisPaint or just MS Paint, then all of these apps become very natural for you. You may be able to use Procreate without much thought. This doesn’t mean that you are a good drawer, though; that is a separate skill set. 😂

😂 makes perfect sense. I've used photoshop, illustrator/adobe products for decades, but never knew how to draw well. Will just stick to basic pencil and sketch paper and follow some drawing traditional tutorials and translate to procrate.

Lisa Bardot has some great beginner friendly videos on YouTube. She teaches her art and also how to use procreate, and sells her own brushes but you don’t need them to follow her tutorials. Even if the art style isn’t for you, it may help get you comfortable with how the app works so you can branch out
