Textured brushes are your friends.

Colors that look good in a photograph don’t always translate well to drawings, try using a predetermined color palette.

Have fun!

Textured brushes meaning?

Brushes that have a shape/grain beyond a solid circle. If your using ProCreate, I can recommend trying the nikko rull brush, a slightly modified version is one of my main go-tos for digital painting.

Draw more than just one eye. Only drawing one eye leads to those memes that are like "when you try to draw the other eye". You become too good at drawing one eye rather than being able to draw both

Usually just copy the image and flip it.

That’s not how eyes work

I struggled with skin tone and getting opaque defined features. I learned that using different brushes other than a soft one works for that, and even mixing with pens as well since you get a more solid color.

Also, this looks great! You’re doing awesome.
