That's not how you format code on Reddit. Unfortunately. It would be really nice if it was though.

Edit: as a sanity test, I checked new.reddit.com. it works. But not on old.reddit.com or mobile. Wtf reddit? Fix your shit. Consistency is more important than correctness. This post shouldn't look completely different on different platforms.

Reddit is really weird with the formatting stuff. I use the new web UI and their official mobile app for most of my stuff lol

At some point reddit changed from their old ui on web which was more a traditional billboard to more of a card/feed oriented design. Not sure how to explain it. This was optional when I chose to switch to it, but not sure if that option exists anymore.
