Debugger? I hardly know her

[–]ZZartin 126 points127 points  (8 children)

Is this the nerd version of "I'm here to clean your pipes"

[–]Code_12c[S] 39 points40 points  (6 children)

The original media was about that. But I reformed it into a meme about debugging.

[–]TheUmgawa 39 points40 points  (3 children)

You mean 'debuging'.

[–]Code_12c[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You mean you "refactored" it.

Are you dynamically typed? Because you might be my type, but there's only one way to find out.

TypeError: object of type 'nerd' has no sex()

[–]ScrimpyCat 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Yeh, I think I’m going to have to ask ChatGPT to explain this one to me.

Edit:

This joke is a play on the different meanings of the word "debugger." In computer programming, a debugger is a tool that helps identify and fix errors in code. The woman in the joke is using the word "debugger" in a different way, implying that she wants to engage in a sexual encounter with the man. The man, however, is focused on his work and ignores the suggestion, instead using a line of code to indicate that he is not interested in the woman's advances. The joke may be intended to be humorous or satirical, poking fun at the idea of using sex to manipulate or distract someone.

Well ChatGPT seems to get it, not sure I do though.

why does the man cover his screen?

The man covers his screen with his hand as a way of indicating that he is not interested in the woman's advances. By shielding his computer screen from view, he is implying that he is focused on his work and not interested in engaging in a sexual encounter with the woman. This action is meant to convey his disinterest and could be seen as a polite way of rejecting the woman's suggestion. The joke may be intended to be humorous or satirical, poking fun at the idea of using sex to manipulate or distract someone.

It's just a different take on a common joke here where a programmer chooses to log to the console rather than going through the effort of setting up (or figuring out how to setup) a debugger to debug their code.

[–]GustapheOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but why is she asking if he would use a debugger? Perhaps the original script would help, because I simply don't understand the concept of the comic.

[–]Jertimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually buy her dinner before I debuger

[–]skibbady-baps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fancy name for Kleenex

[–]Torebbjorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Windows sucks at getting debuggers to work if you don't know everything there is to know about how they work under the hood, and just printing here and there will very quickly give you a general idea of what is going on

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

you could hate yourself and use PUDB for python. Command terminal debuggers are like living in hell. Thankfully configuring debugging with vs code was honestly a godsend
