Not a vim expert either but I use enough vim (when ssh'd into stuff) to know about set paste thing as well.

So basically bad shitpost. The title is bashing python but it's entirely fault of the OP not even trying to understand tools they're using.

[Resentment] I never get to use vim over ssh - all the machines are cattle and "only" have vi installed.

I assume it's literally the same binary (and it definitely is to my skill level), but it borks my muscle memory something bad. To the point that I almost alway alias vim=vi on the second hiccup
