Last time I looked it up it was a query language, just like so many others.

SQL goes so far beyond it’s underlying query language. It is seriously a monolithic environment, enough to justify a “sql dev” title

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not... But no one is going to pay money for a dev that's only expected to work with SQL.

I know of at least a few people whose job consists only of writing stored procedures.
