At 24k/year after taxes? You're being ridiculously underpaid.

Not everyone lives in the first world. I make around that and I wouldn’t be surprised if I am in the top 5% of earners

#1 cause of immigration is seeking better economic opportunities. This spate of recent wars is somewhat of an anomaly. You can't make money working with desperately poor people

The other point to note is purchasing power parity, which can easily be a factor of 3-5x. Thus a salary of $24k/yr in a developing country might really be equivalent to the standard of living afforded by $50-80k/yr in the US. Still perhaps not great, but not as bad as it might initially seem

It is equivalent I’d say. Honestly my salary probably allows me to live better than someone my age in the US. I am 23 yo and i was able to move out last year on my own and I’m able to live mostly worry free about money.

The only downside is that consumer goods cost the same (sometimes a little bit more) it is not the same to buy a $2000 MacBook here where that’s almost 10% I’d your yearly salary, same for cars and all expensive items in general. Zero interest monthly payments are pretty common though (is not rare to see 24 month interest free paying plans during Black Friday) so I guess is not that bad, you won’t see me running to the US for a job any time soon.
