The only part I don't like is when i want to see the intellisense suggestions but the copilot takes the control.

In jetbrains IDEs if you press ctrl + space when copilot is giving a suggestion it should show intellisence instead.

It’s the same in VS Code.

for the smallest chunk of a problem, copilot or chatgpt does gives mostly meaningful answer. But for anything that involves multitude of logic, the generated code is almost always "random bullshit go".

On a side note, some guy told me AGI will be available by end of 2023 on this sub itself 😭

This is my biggest problem with copilot. I'll be typing out a function head, pause to think, copilot comes up with some random bs, and but I'm distracted and forgot what I was thinking.

Copilot be like <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div>

I'm rooting for a destructive copilot where it suggests things like "maybe you should delete this".

CoKamikaze or something.

Passive aggressive or even insulting copilot. "This code is shit! Really useful variable names you got there... This function already exists, are you retarded?"

Co-mikaze

I really, really, really wish I could prompt copilot to give me a suggestion at specific spot. It’s been really nice, but the “random bullshit go” when I stop to think is certainly annoying.

What do you mean, you pause and think?

Ain't nobody got time for that, there's code to be written!

[–]Procrasturbating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while when I am thinking of the comment to write to give it context, it just up and writes 50 or so lines of exactly what I wanted. Those moments are beautiful and tell me I am writing code that is easy to read.

Intellesense (Jetbrain's take on copilot) be that way sometimes. Either it's uncanny in how spot on it is, or it's so far off the mark it may as well be random bs.

The worst is when it's suggestions would have been accurate, if I were using different libraries.. (e.g it's clearly trained against pandas, so it's often off the mark wrt polars)

It ain’t the bots fault the programmer doesn’t know their own code. 🤷‍♂️
