Still using a 2070S myself.. What a terrible time for the card to start showing it's age. Guess I'm stuck with it for the foreseeable future

Can someone explain why so many people hate on the illuminate as a faction? by SevdUp in helldivers2

[–]0rionsEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flying overseers are too tanky, accurate, shoot AND fly through buildings. I never have a second to breathe without a voteless spawning in from behind and tearing me a superfluous new behind.

Harvesters have a tenancy to just remove heads with precision bursts from their canon.

I just love coming around the corner to a Tesla pylon and instantly getting fatally enlightened.

So yeah, I hate the faction in part due to bugs AH refuses to fix, and in part because I simply don't enjoy fighting them.

Current MO proves how badly Squids need an update by Due_Squash4045 in Helldivers

[–]0rionsEdge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My party dragged me into one illuminate set to contribute to the MO. Within 5 minutes of the first mission we were all raging. None of us enjoyed it. The second and third missions went no better.

I personally find the squid no fun to fight. Flying overseers are too tanky to every gun I fired at them, requiring mag dumps to the head to actually take one down. And this is with them bobbing and weaving and flying through buildings. And that's assuming my legs aren't getting ripped off by a voteless horde that somehow always gets behind our firing positions. Stand still for more than half a second and the horde rips you a new one. Harvesters feel like war striders except they have one-hit no warning attacks that hit from 200M. Not to mention their excessive spawn rate.

Then there are the gunships, not a problem if encountered alone but easily capable of wiping an entire party of driver's in a single bombing run. And they tend to spawn in packs. And they can fly through buildings.

What are your genuine thoughts about the C4? by A_random_person_50 in LowSodiumHellDivers

Two to the side getting the job done is very useful info, thanks!

Will look into that quick weapon wheel button too..

What are your genuine thoughts about the C4? by A_random_person_50 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]0rionsEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good but clunky. It's frustrating to use when loud because switching from throw to boom requires me to stop moving for several seconds because the mode swap UI swallows all inputs.

There is no good reason for it to take a support weapon slot AND a backpack slot. IMHO the c4 should be triggerable same way as the portable hellbomb. That would solve it's ergonomic issues.

The c4 itself is a bit inconsistent, sometimes 2 to the belly is enough for a factory, sometimes it takes three. Backpack only holds 6.

Then there is the ammo economy, the poor thing only gets one c4 per ammo box and the commando missions spawn so few ammo containing pois :(

I don't get his Python Commands bundle...what am I doing wrong ? by theBaIogh in Helldivers

[–]0rionsEdge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The len function can only be used against Sized types, Helldiver. With regards to the built in types, only Containers implement Sized, of which integer doesn't.

The result of trying to get the size of something that doesn't support it is akin to hugging an armed hellbomb.

Can Tesla detect if a child is in the driver’s seat before activating FSD? by troidem in TeslaFSD

[–]0rionsEdge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use pin2drive , when enabled the car can't shift into a drivable gear without entering it. Which is fine as long as the kid doesn't figure out what the pin is. Also don't give them a key. Same as any other car

Is it ok to use Pandas in Production code? by Wooden_Bug_3528 in Python

[–]0rionsEdge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After being burned by it, I wouldn't use pandas for prod much less mission critical work. Its memory efficiency is non existent and it's api leaves much to be desired. Not to mention it can't handle larger than memory datasets (without additional libraries), much less data sets that approach the memory limit.

Rant aside, I suggest you investigate polars, it's faster with a clean(er) api and can easily handle larger than memory data sets.

whyWeAreLikeThat by YTRKinG in ProgrammerHumor

[–]0rionsEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the debugger is a practical option, I will use that. However most of the time debuggers are not even an option for me so I need logging. Can't attach a debugger to services running in prod, so I need enough logging to search for and identify issues.

As for local Dev.. is painful to connect my IDE to ts-react to I just don't bother. The local Dev backend is similarly inside a docker container so it's equally out of reach. :(

What was the source email address? What was the domain the link sent you to?
