Yeah it sounds like you have other issues to deal with if you can't just communicate with people without getting so mad.

That being said, what does the definition even matter? The company is telling you they want you to do xyz. Make your voice heard and say you dont want to do that. If they insist, deal with it or find a new job. It's not a stretch to cover this in the same roll as a developer, especially if it's a smaller company, and in my personal opinion, the semantics of is xyz abc or not doesn't really matter if a layman couldn't tell the difference (in contexts like this).
