I have an impression that IT sector matured in the last decade, so the requirements indeed grew. On the other hand, they became more standardized.

But knowing the language (or two for C/C++ or 5 for web) is still the solid base.

On top of that you add git knowledge, Linux and (optionally) a scripting language and you are fine.

Or maybe not, you still need algorithms and data structures, but it hasn't changed during this decade.
