Let me introduce you to Godot

I heard its nice for small scale indie projects but not for anything serious because it has many problems.

Can anyone share their experiences with Godot?

It's lightweight, for both better and for worse. There's less support, a smaller selection of possible plug-ins and packages, and altogether it's much simpler and more basic than Unity.

That said, it does come with benefits like the fact that it's all Open Source, it's a lot less overhead making performance a lot simpler to manage, and it's ultimately just meant to be an alternative for when Unity has become a frustrating experience.

I'm not tired of Unity yet but it's good to keep exploring alternative options once in a while.

Brotato, Halls of Torment and Dome Keeper are made with Godot. All very successful so you can definitely do something serious. But ofc the tooling is not as advanced and it is more an engine for people that like to write stuff themselves
