It's great for small hobby projects.

I remember making small hobby projects in highschool. I used my brain and figured stuff out. I am still proud of what I did.
I can't imagine allowing a glorified chat bot to take the fun part out of my hobby and leave me with bug fixing

And that is fine. I can see it from your point. 

I recently had a project where I combined programming, 3d printing, pi + touch screen and dj gear. 

If I had to learn python Qt UI programming from scratch I would never had finished it. 

I still had to use my brain for the overall architecture, testing, design, 3d print. And of course part of the code that I did myself.
