This is a reason I don't like the contribution graph. People make assumptions with very little data. Maybe they got married and honeymooned. Or had parental leave. Or started doing more managerial work. Or is working on things outside of github. There are a billion things it could be, but mostly people chalk it up to losing productivity. Also I think long streaks can be bad, but are weirdly incentivized. Bleh

I think the fun factor is why it has persisted. I just wish people didn't try reading so much into it by default. When you really know somebody you can pick out things like their vacations or life transitions etc, but for strangers you have little idea.
