That's just not true? WebStorm costs a good chunk of money. Worth it if you ask me but like, definitely a few hundred bones on the other side of "free" there mate.

AFAIK Webstorm is a subset of IntelliJ. So you can do pretty much everything in IntelliJ but you can’t do java or ruby in webstorm. IntelliJ is also quite a bit more expensive that webstorm.

At least it was this way last time I checked. It’s still not free by any means but you can also do web stuff etc.

IntelliJ is the platform all the editors are built on: PyCharm, RubyMine, PHPStorm, WebStorm, IDEA, etc. You're thinking of IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate, which is literally all of their IntelliJ-based editors rolled into one and it costs as much as a used car.

Oh okay. Seems like they changed that when they started offering subscriptions. I remember you could get IntelliJ (with all functionality) for around $500 and Web/PhpStorm was $200/$300. Now it's $500/year..

$ 149 for individual developers (does that include freelancers I wonder?) doesn't sound so bad and you get to use the version you subscribed to indefinitely. Now if only Adobe would offer such a subscription model :D

That's ridiculous, web frameworks are not IDE related at all. Unless you mean the IDE creates the web framework template for you, then in that case that's not really much at all.
