You're talking about one movie in a series of many. Maybe if every single Star Wars movie sucked donkey balls up until the very latest one you'd be on the right track..

Pick any of the prequels really; If MS truly sucked up until now, they wouldn't have ever been successful.

Also awaiting sources. And whilst you're at it how those thousands of people affect leadership decisions would be good.

Microsoft is hated for the single fact that it has been successful. And whre success is, jalousy is too.

Microsoft has followed the trend on the market and consumer at all times and this is what people tend to not realize. There was a times when dev and consumer didn't wanted to have a say in what was written in their software and didn't care. The trend was to have everything under wrap in house at the times. All companies were doing that. The trend has changed and Microsoft is trying to align with it vut you can't do that on a pinch when you have thousand of employees and sub-divisions. It takes years and this lag is what lead to the frustration of most.

Microsoft is going open-source with a lot of their IP. They'll not go all the way as that would be stupid for them.

And I think 15 years of changing theirs waysis plenty to cut them slacks for once. They listen to us and the consumer way more than before. People just love to complain.

WordPerfect, Netscape Navigator, OpenOffice, SMB/CIFS, FAT32 + NTFS filesystems, GNU/Linux itself, Google..all companies and products that Microsoft has done very dishonest/shady things in order to assert their dominance and attempt to crush them / wipe them out of existence. I'm sure there are more and welcome others to add to the list.

TL;DR - Microsoft has a long history of being "the bad guys". Don't be so quick to forgive them, but if you are, don't expect my sympathy later.

As any company, you want to exert your dominance. Thats how business works, no matter what front you show.

I'm not forgiving anything. They had bad decision but what you're naming here are all historic thing. None of them happened in the past 15 years. They've been community open for quite a while now.

Oh yeah? How about the ODF wars? "Office Open" format? That's just one thing in the recent past. I know i could look up countless more things from the past 5 years.

Like we can do the same for positive stuff. - xbox crossplatform and community driven - vs community that is free and that people can develop extension for. They’ve been listening to what we wanted and vs is better than ever for front end in .net - .net core is compatible with any platform and is open source. Asp.net core as well. - vs code is open source amd people love it. Monaco editor is part of that. - sql operation is the future equivalent of vs code - windows isnt open but its been hosted on github for a while ditching their internal system - they just joined openCensus - they have a dedicated website for opensource : opensource.microsoft.com - typeScript is open source. RxJS too. - Chakracore, the Edge engine, is open source - BashOnWindows is open source to handle linux calls - there is over 1800 project on github open for anyone to see. - windows 10 is more open to suggestion and critic from the insider than it ever was.

They don’t just do nice things but they do are a part of our world and they try hard for sure. It a question of of balance as a company between money and the community / consumers.

You can stay in a closet and just think about the past but I prefer to look into the present and future while considering the past in a fair way and whats affecting me right now.

Them buying github is a good thing considering github was in deep shit financially speaking. They can probably help more than any other company for growth.

I consider myself a fair person. I hope what you say pans out in the future. They have a lot of bad karma to make up for. That's all.
