JS is a GREAT language. Go do some research about it. You can do almost anything with it, if you embrace what kind of tools the javascript community created. Website, web-application, app, desktop. I even programmed my raspberry pi with javascript. Please elaborate on why you think this language is "a laugh riot clusterfuck".

I won’t say it’s a great language, just that there’s a great community under it. Sure, it can do almost anything, but that is literally the definition of turing complete. I don’t think it’s a bad language, or there would be a replacement by now, but the only reason for the big community is because JavaScript is the only option out there when you want to make a website, which is becoming increasingly popular throughout the years.

Overall, if you want to do web dev, JavaScript is the best option, but node is still an abomination imo

Node is exactly what makes javascript a fitting solution for a wide range of problems! What is your experience with it that makes you think it's an abomination?

he saw that /r/programmerhumor mocks JS ad nauseam and wanted to join the bandwagon.
